Executive Director Center for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), Dr. Yunusa Zakari Ya’u urge youth at any level to embrace the usage of social media as a catalyst for national development in Nigeria.
Dr. Yunusa Zakari Ya’u made the assertion during a ‘Kano Social Influencers Summit 2021’, in Kano.
Dr Zakari said social media is one of avenue of addressing national issues that bedevils Nigeria, Politics and future of young generations.

“Let’s utilize the opportunities we have in digital media platforms, but in a positive way because there’s no any regulation pertaining it’s usage.
We’re not discouraging those in support of censoring anything that will come out from the social media platforms.
Remember that it’s part of the freedom that constitutional provision gave the right to exercise, freedom of expression to say your mind freely, but make sure we exercise the right positively for the benefit of all of us and the country at large,” Dr Zakari said.
On his part, President Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) appealed to the CITAD and other partners to make this summit as an annual event, which problems that relates to youth in social media, and other problems that emanates from the platforms.
“If you look at the social media platforms critically, there’re opportunities that someone will tap educationally, politically and economically.
“Let’s use it to promote peace, bury any form of ethnic and religious clashes in the country,” Malam Ibrahim Tizhe.
Isma’il Auwal, a participant, said they are expecting a lot from the numerous experts, and panelists.
The two day summit will expose those in attendance to know the advantages therein, and use social media as tool for national development.
