Prof. Yohanna Izam, the Vice Chancellor, Plateau State University, Bokkos, has sought the support and collaboration of the Nigeria Police Force towards addressing insecurity in the university and its host communities.
Izam made the call when he visited the Mr Bartholomew Onyeka, the Commissioner of Police in the state on Monday.
Mr John Agams, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday said that the vice chancellor was accompanied on the visit by members of the management staff of the university.
Izam, who commended the commissioner for the feats so far achieved in curbing the myriad of security challenges in the state, added that the visit was to seek stronger collaboration for safety of students and staff.
The vice chancellor further appealed to the commissioner to deploy his men to the new police out-post provided by the university at Diram village, its host community.
Responding, the commissioner thanked the vice chancellor for the visit and promised to take prompt action on the request put before him.
He promised to visit the university campus within the week to assess the facility provided for the police out-post station and to also familiarise himself with the environment.(NAN)
