The late veteran Kannywood actress, Saratu Gidado Daso has been buried according to Islamic rites in Kano on Tuesday.

Daily News 24 reports that Ms Daso, who mostly play villain and comedy roles, died in her sleep on Tuesday morning just a few hours after taking her Sahur meal. She was 56.

Ms Daso’s funeral prayer was held at 4pm at the Kano Emir’s Palace before she was later buried at the ancient Dandolo burial ground in the city.

Some of those who attended her funeral prayers include the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, Cheif of Staff to Governor Abba Yusuf, Shehu Sagagi, head of the Kano State Censorship Board, Abba Al-Mustapha, ace actors, Aminu Sheriff Momo, Malam Bashir Nayaya and Sani Danja among others.

In a short interview with our reporter, Ms Daso’s younger sister Zinaru Muhammad Gidado said the late actress had struggled with serious colds prior to her demise.

“She had been struggling with serious colds before she died. Saratu was my older sister,” Zinaru said.

In a condolence message, Al-Mustapha expressed his grief over the death of the popular actress.

El-mustapha described her loss as a great one “not only to her family or the industry of Kannywood but also to the general Muslims ummah considering her daily service to humanity.”

He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgives all her shortcomings and grant her Jannatul Firdaus as her final abode.

He also prayed to Almighty Allah to give her family and the industry the fortitude to bear the great loss.
