Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, is currently in Rome representing President Bola Tinubu at the United Nations Food Systems Summit.

The event begins today, Monday, July 24, and concludes on Wednesday, July 26.

This marks Shettima’s initial official visit to the country since the new Nigerian leadership took office.

He arrived at Leonardo Da Vinci Airport at 7:45 PM Italian time, where he was warmly received by Nigerian diplomats, including the Nigerian Ambassador to Italy, Mfawa Omini Abam, the Head of the Consular Department of the Nigerian Embassy in Italy, Ugochukwu Onuzulike, and the President of the Nigerian Community in Rome, Chima Ibezim.

Accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President and other government officials, Shettima departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Sunday afternoon.

After the Rome event, he will proceed to St Petersburg, Russia, to represent President Tinubu at the Russia-Africa Summit, which also takes place this week.

During the Rome event, the Vice President will join global leaders for the first Stocktaking Moment (STM) Summit, focused on “Transforming Food Systems for People, Planet, and Prosperity.”
