Farida Abdulkabir, popularly known as Farida Sobowale, a popular socialite in Lagos State, has apologised to her children for her attempt to jump into a lagoon on the Third Mainland Bridge.
The owner of Phreedah Body Care and Spa in Surulere, Lagos, was seen being pacified by several men in a video clip that went viral on Thursday evening, with her black-colored Sport Utility vehicle parked beside her.
In the video, rescuers can be seen holding the entrepreneur and convincing her not to commit suicide.
According to City Round, Abdulkabir was eventually whisked away with her vehicle and taken to an unknown location.
In a viral social media audio, she blamed her suicidal attempt on her marriage to another Lagos socialite, Demola Okulaja.
“Friends and families warned me not to enter the marriage,” she explained. They told me that the man only wanted my money, but I refused.
“It was love that drove me to do this.” He said he was going to be with me and make me bore children for him.
“I am deeply sorry for putting my children in this situation. If I had abandoned them after committing suicide, I could not have forgiven myself.
“I forgave my ex-husband. “May God bless him with another wife.”
Farida married Okulaja in a lavish wedding about two months ago.
However, she and her estranged husband have had social media spats, revealing family secrets and calling each other unprintable names.
