A video has emerged on social media depicting a group of youths in Maiduguri burning a poster featuring the face of the popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, widely known as Davido.

The incident occurred in response to a controversial music video released by Logos Olori, an artist signed under Davido’s label, which was initially shared on Davido’s Twitter page last Friday as part of a promotional campaign.

The music video, characterized by its controversial content, displayed individuals dressed in white attire performing prayers reminiscent of Muslim practices. Subsequently, they transitioned into dancing while reciting Quranic verses and engaging in acts of devotion.

The video quickly gained traction, especially among Muslims residing in the northern region of Nigeria, who accused the singer and his signee of disrespecting Islamic beliefs and practices.

As the controversy escalated, pressure mounted on Davido to address the situation and apologize for the perceived insensitivity.

In response, Daily News 24 reports that Davido eventually removed the contentious video from his social media platforms.

However, despite taking down the video, he did not issue any form of apology, further fueling criticism.

The displeasure and dissatisfaction among the Muslim community culminated in the act of burning Davido’s poster by the youth from Maiduguri.

A post shared on Twitter by Arewa influencer, Sarki_Sultan, captured the moment when the group of youths expressed their disapproval by setting the singer’s poster on fire.

The influencer implored Davido to put an end to the controversy by offering a sincere apology, urging him to acknowledge the concerns raised by the Muslim community.

The incident has sparked a broader conversation about the significance of respecting religious beliefs and cultural sensitivities within the entertainment industry.
