The deputy gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Murtala Sule Garo, has assured that when elected, they will build upon the legacies of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in the fields of education, health, agriculture and empowerment.
He stated this to journalists in Kano while explaining the points of focus of their government when they come to office in 2023.
Garo also stated that while in office they will provide road infrastructure that will link all the 44 local government areas in the state as a continuation of the Ganduje administration’s “Karkara Salamu Alaikum” project.
Garo showed particular concern on job provision for youths saying that they will design a robust empowerment system that will train them in various fields as it will not be possible for everybody to be employed by government.
“Our main focus when we become victorious as the leaders of our dear state Kano, as you are aware His Excellency has established free and compulsory education, from primary to tertiary schools, we will continue with that.
“We also have challenges in the health sector, so we are going to have befitting health facilities in each of the 484 political wards that we have in the state as soon as possible. Health is very important.
“Another area we are going to focus on is that of agriculture. As you are aware, we have verse land in Kano and almost 60 – 70 percent of our population depend on agriculture. So we are going to mechanise farming by bringing in new machines in order to encourage our farmers in that direction.
“Another legacy that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has started is that of infrastructure, especially in the rural areas where we have the “Karkara Salamu Alaikum” project. We will make sure that each and every local government has road networks. We will make sure each of the 44 local governments of the state is connected.
“We are also going to engage in empowerment because it is true that government cannot provide jobs to all. So we will make sure that we come up with a very robust and important program of empowerment.
“As you are aware, Kano is the most populous state in this country and in west Africa. We will make sure we have a very good program of empowerment that will empower our youth across the 484 political wards we have in the state in various fields.
“So we assure the people of Kano state that we will continue where his Excellency governor Ganduje has stopped and will follow his footsteps” he stated.
