Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has explained the reasons behind the recent cabinet reshuffle that saw the dismissal of some key officials, including five commissioners, the Secretary to the State Government, and the Chief of Staff.
The governor described the decision as necessary to enhance governance and accelerate the delivery of his administration’s promises to the people of Kano State.

Addressing journalists after the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, Yusuf dismissed political speculations surrounding the changes, emphasizing that the move was in the best interest of the state.
“In recent times, we made some decisions in the administration, including a cabinet reshuffle. As a result of this action, some lost their positions in the cabinet, while others were reassigned to serve in another capacity. Let me remind the public that the action taken was in the best interest of the good people of Kano,” the governor stated through his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature.
Yusuf further explained that the reshuffle was aimed at injecting renewed energy into the administration, strengthening policies, and ensuring greater efficiency to meet the demands of development projects.
“We have promised to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people. Unfortunately, we are already short of time to deliver what we promised. So, we need to effect changes to speed up the process. We have reshuffled the cabinet to improve the system,” he added.
Reassuring those removed from their positions, Yusuf affirmed that they remain valuable members of his administration and would be reassigned to new roles.
“We have not dropped those affected for life. We have other jobs for them, so I want everybody to accept the decision the way it is. As for those reassigned, we urge them to bring their previous experiences to bear in their new roles,” he said.
The governor also announced that seven newly appointed commissioners, who were recently screened and cleared by the state assembly, would attend the next executive council meeting, where their portfolios would be officially assigned.
Yusuf expressed optimism that the reshuffle would revitalize his administration, bringing in fresh ideas and energy to drive social and infrastructural development in Kano State.
