Public Health Specialist, Dr Hassan Shuaibu Musa has urged Nigerians to take COVID-19 vaccine as the prevalence of the virus is increasing.

He made the call during a training workshop organised by the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) with a view to enlighten the people on the the vaccine.

Musa who is working towards increasing vaccine uptake in Bauchi State said, “it is imperative for our people males and females, young and elderly to visit the centers to get themselves vaccinated.

“By doing so we protect ourselves and have full ownership of prevention of further transmission of the virus at individual level and to the general public as well,” Expert.

On his part Executive Director CITAD, Yunusa Zakari Ya’u, described the training as timely, given the massive apathy for the vaccine.

He said the training would go a long way to convince the people on the importance of the COVID -19 vaccine.

He explained that “We try to find ways on how to inform and educate the public, as misinformation and rumors about COVID-19 is still ongoing, as the virus is real and the only way of prevention is by taking the vaccine.

“We recommend that inbound travellers should be given consideration, and observance of all other protocol as measure to protect ourselves and others,” Executive Director CITAD.

This is coming after the detection of Omicron variant of COVID-19 on 26 November 2021.
