To mark the world Enterpreneurs’ day, business owners of Micro, Small and Medium enterprises in Kaduna are showcasing their home and foreign-made products and services at the Enterprise Development Center (EDC), ‘Let’s go to the marketplace! Buy and sell’ forum in the commemoration of the day.

According to the President, Alumni coordinator, EDC community manager, Mrs Nnenna Aguw, the forum said it was conceived to appreciate and also for Small and Medium business owners to come together to create an atmosphere for networking and products exhibitions.

The keynote speaker at the occasion, Director of Entrepreneurship Research and Development Centre, Kaduna State University (KASU), Prof. Helen Afang Andow, appreciated the Small, Medium business owners at the occasion and elsewhere, noting they had contributed immensely towards the development of the Country through their business.

The Don explained that MSMEs could be a solution to Insecurity bedevilling Kaduna state, as many of the youths involved in Banditry, Kidnapping, among other criminalities, can be self-employed through the Sector, even though unemployment is not an excuse in involving in such activities.

She emphasized that it plays a bulk role in the country’s development, hence explaining there is a need to support the sector to overcome its numerous challenges.

“Small and Medium scale enterprises( MSMEs) account for about 40% of the Gross domestic product ( GDP) as well as about 7.27% of goods and services exported out of the country”.

“Also 84% of jobs in the country are created by the MSMEs”

Prof. Helen commended EDC for organizing such an opportunity to bring in Micro, Small, and Medium business owners in Kaduna for networking and partnership.

Similarly, she called on the Government to be more lenient in its policies to encourage the sector( MSMEs) to grow.

A participant at the occasion who is into processing High local spices, Nafeesat Muhammad Nasir, appreciated the Enterprise Development Center.

She said it is a golden opportunity for all small, medium business owners as they have show-cases their business to the world.
