A member of the House of Representatives for Yagba East, West, and Mopamuro Federal Constituency in Kogi State, Elder Leke Abejide, has called on his supporters to refrain from involving his colleague, Hon. James Faleke, in what he described as “unhealthy politics.”
In a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja and personally signed by him, Abejide expressed disapproval of political remarks linking Hon. Faleke to the politics of his constituency ahead of the 2027 elections. He dismissed such actions as distractions from governance and emphasized his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents.

“Please and please leave Hon. Abiodun Faleke out of this unhealthy politics some people started in December 2024 for an election that is still in 2027,” Abejide urged.
He dismissed claims that Faleke was behind such remarks, stating, “I am very sure and confident Hon. Faleke did not send them to utter all those words credited to him that he sent them a message to deliver to Yagba. They are only using his name to curry favour for themselves.”
Abejide, who chairs the House Committee on Customs, assured constituents that his focus remains on governance and executing his second-term budget. He criticized “political jobbers” for creating unnecessary distractions and stressed the need for unity and progress in the constituency.
“As for me, I am only ready to face governance to alleviate the suffering of our people. My first budget for my second term has not even been executed, and some people who have nothing to do except being political jobbers will drag me into politics and distract me—never!” he declared.
The lawmaker’s statement serves as a call for political stakeholders to prioritize constructive leadership and avoid divisive narratives that could hinder development within the Yagba Federal Constituency.
