Youths from Idanre and Ifedore Local Governments of Ondo State on Sunday organised a walk to support a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Festus Akingbaso.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Akingbaso, a member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is representing Idanre Constituency at the state House of Assembly.

Akingbaso had announced his interest to represent Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives in 2023.

The youths, who went round the city of Idanre, said Akingbaso is a man of his words who had done more for the development of Idanre, and would do more if giving a higher responsibility.

Mr Dele Oluwalegan, the Coordinator of the Youth Movement for Fessywest, while speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Idanre, said the youths decided to appreciate the lawmaker for reducing unemployment rate amongst them by using his connection to offer them job opportunities.

Oluwalegan said the lawmaker has tried his best in assisting all sectors from education, economy, sports to the traditional institutions in the constituency.

“We, the youths of Idanre and Ifedore Local Government areas want to appreciate honourable Festus Akingbaso for his good works since he has occupied Idanre Constituency seat in the state house of assembly.

“That he did not disappoint us in any aspect ranging from education, sports to the traditional council in Idanre, mostly on employment, he has helped mosy of our youths by using his connection to reduce unemployment in Idanre,” he said.

Also speaking, one of the Youths from Ifedore Local Government, Mr Williams Fagbolagun, said the youths from Ifedore did not participate actively in previous walks because they felt their vote would not count.

Fagbolagun noted that the lawmaker has done enough for the youths to support him from both local governments and for him to emerge as candidate of his party.

“Since his days as the chairman of Idanre Local Government, I purposely decided to follow him because he has done a unique thing in renovating government properties.

“Aside that, he has been giving JAMB registration forms free for 200 students every year. Not quite long, he just had an empowerment in both local governments and had been helping people, giving out jobs to graduates,” he said.

Similarly, Olaiya Ayewamide, a prominent businessman and politician in Idanre Local Government, expressed happiness for the show of support by the youths.

He said that the youths were getting involved and appreciated what the house of assembly member has being doing for his constituents.

Ayewamide said that Akingbaso would do more if given more opportunities.

Meanwhile, Bashorun Akinloye Akinboni, an aide of former Gov. Olusegun Mimiko, said Akingbaso was obviously the people’s choice with the show of solidarity from the youths, saying, “there is no household that is not involved.” (NAN)
