The Rescue Nigeria Mission (RENMISS) North East chapter, on Saturday, launched its movement in Gombe to mobilise support for the presidential aspiration of Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi.

RENMISS is a youth support group agitating for good and youthful governance in Nigeria.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the project is aimed at galvanising support for the Kogi governor ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

The launch had youth leaders from the six states of the North East in attendance.

The movement maintained that Bello deserved to be Nigeria’s next president based on his achievements.

The Chief of Staff to Bello, Mr Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku while addressing the youths, said the governor had proven that if given a higher task, he would deliver by replicating the Kogi-good-governance example in Nigeria.

According to Asuku, the Kogi governor has contributed immensely to the development of youths in Nigeria by instituting people-oriented policies for their benefit.

The chief of staff who urged youths to embrace and support Bello for 2023 presidency, stressed that the event was also to create awareness on the need for youths to be involved in peace-oriented governance system.

“This movement is against revolution, what we are calling for is youth involvement not just inclusiveness but allowing the youths to take the driver seat.

“Because they have the leadership capacity, the technical know-how the agility, ability and even the number that is required to reposition the situation democratically.’’

He further called on youths to bridge the trust gap in the country to enhance the unity of the country and fast-track development for the continued survival of Nigeria.

“The unity of this country is paramount. Bello united Kogi and appointed non indigenes into his cabinet, he will strengthen the unity of Nigeria.

“Belllo has shown that he is a unifier, first Muslim governor in Kogi that decided to build a chapel for Christians to worship ,’’ he stated.

A participant from Yobe, Mr Ibrahim Mohammed told newsmen that Bello would give the youths of Nigeria good representation in all sectors of governance for the benefit of citizens.

“If you look at Bello’ cabinet, 95 per cent are youths from his chief of staff, special advisers, commissioners and other administrative officers .’’

Mohammed said with Bello as president come 2023, unemployment amongst youths would be reduced while empowerment of youths and women would be prioritised.

Mr Abdulwahab Ahmed, Coordinator of the movement in Gombe, said as far as youths in the state were concerned, Bello remained the solution to the numerous challenges bedeviling the country.

Ahmed said they had carried out thorough assessment of leaders that would protect the interest of youth and women if elected and “Gov Bello is that leader we have resolved to give the mantle of leadership.’’

The National Coordinator of the group, Mr Abdullahi Damat, who led other youth leaders across the North-East, said the youths had resolved to shun money politics and use their numerical strength to put their preferred candidate in power.

While commending the governor for his giant strides in infrastructural development, security, education, women and youth inclusiveness, among others, Damat said Bello had shown that he had the capacity to take Nigeria to the desired destination and must be supported.

“We will go from house to house, door to door, to canvass support. The politicians can be doing their own. But we are ready. Let people bring their money, we will collect, but we will put Bello there with our collective will.

“The youth population in Nigeria is massive but we are assuring the governor that with our efforts, we will mobilise 30 million conservative votes. It will surely be more than that,” he maintained. (NAN)
