At the weekend, hundreds of Zamfara state civil servants stormed the Eid praying ground in Gusau, the state capital, to offer “special prayer” (AlQunut).

Workers stormed the Eid ground at 10:00 am on Saturday to pray for the state government to pay them.

One civil servant (name withheld) who spoke on their behalf said workers were not paid for three months (February, March, and April).

He said they’re asking God to solve the state’s civil servant and pensioner issue.

He said, “Many of us have been turned to beggars, unable to eat one square meal a day and pay our children’s school fees.

“So, this prayer session is specially meant to commit our dear governor, Head of Service, House of Assembly members, and all those concerned, for God to enable them to have compassion on us.

“We have suffered enough from this struggle, many died, and we want it no more.

“We have gathered in unison devoid of religious affiliations to sincerely seek God’s intervention for all,” he added.
