Zazzau Emirate said the suspected homosexual who was arrested a few days ago is not a title holder of the emirate.
This is contained in a statement signed by the emirate’s Media and Publicity Officer, Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai, on Thursday 29th December 2022.
“The attention of Zazzau Emirate Council has been drawn to the news in the media that a “Title Holder” of the emirate has been arrested for sodomy.” The statement reads.
The statement further stated that the arrested suspect is one of the emir’s servant (Bawan Sarki) and not a title holder of the emirate as claimed.
The emirate also affirmed that, it received the news of the arrest of the suspect with rude shock and as an institution that believes in the rule of law, it will not allow any form of immorality to exist within its ambit.
It therefore appeals, to the police and other agencies handling the matter to expedite action and ensure without further delay, the accused is prosecuted, so as to serve as a deterrent to others.
Finally, the emirate wishes to call on the Media to always cross-check any claim pertaining to the Emirate before rushing to the press and calls for the erroneous impression given that the suspect as a title holder of the emirate be corrected immediately.
