Prof. Abubakar Zubair has emerged as the new President of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
The COREN Head of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Ojonugwa Haruna, announced this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
According to her, Zubair’s emergence is a sequel to his election at its Extraordinary Council Meeting on April 13.
She said that Zubair took over from Mr. Ali Rabiu, who was the Council’s President from April 2019 to April 2023.
The spokesperson described the new president as a professional and an astute scholar who has experience in teaching and research.
She said this was in addition to attending several academic and professional courses both locally and internationally.
“The new president has vast international skills from Israel, France, India, Japan, the USA, the UK, and Brazil,” she said.
She said that Zubair is a member of several professional bodies both locally and internationally, who joined the services of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 1988 and rose to the rank of Professor in 2006.
“He supervised and mentored several postgraduate and undergraduate students and assessed candidates for professional positions in agricultural and bio-resource engineering across many universities.”
“Zubair held various leadership positions throughout his 34-year academic career,” she said.
She said that the COREN President was appointed pioneer vice chancellor of Capital City University, Kano, in January 2022, where he currently serves.
