Four persons have been reported killed while two others sustained injuries following attack by gunmen on traders at Ofeapo-Bagana in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi state.

The victims who were said to be returning from the troubled Bagana market were ambushed and killed by suspected bandits around 8:30pm on Tuesday.

The victims who were mainly traders where traveling in a tricycle when gunmen opened fire on them at close range killing four on the spot, while the two lucky survivors were later evacuated to a nearby medical facility.

However confirming the incident, the state’ Police Command spokesperson, SP. William Aya said one person, who was the rider of the motorcycle was killed, while two others sustained injuries and were rushed to medical facilities in Abejukolo, headquarters of the Local government area.

He said the commissioner of police , CP Edward Egbuka has mobilised tactical squad and officers of the Division to the scene to possibly fish out the perpetrators.

The development has made the paramount ruler of Omala Local Government Area Traditional council, HRH Boniface Musa begging the state government to intercede in the crisis.

The traditional ruler who condemned the dastardly act decried the incessant attacks on the Bagana people by unknown gunmen.
