The acting Executive Chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Barrister Mahmud Balarabe pledge for continued support from the State government for the overall development of the Open Government Partnership Program in Kano.

He made this known at the opening of a 2-days retreat organized by the Program in conjunction with PERL and UKaid held in Jigawa State.

The retreat was aimed at reviewing the First Action Plan that was developed to run from 2018 to 2020 and to develop the Second Action Plan for more effective implementation of the OGP commitments in Kano State.

The Acting Chairman appealed to all members and other relevant stakeholders for more dedication and selfless services in discharging their duties so as to achieve the intended mission.

Barrister Mahmud Balarabe assured all that the Open Government Partnership in Kano will work closely with all stakeholders in implementing the activities as enshrined in the State Action.

He also assured the members of a co-creative effort and the government’s unflinching commitment towards achieving all the activities set out for all the various thematic areas of the Action Plan.

Meanwhile, the OGP team worked tirelessly in the review of the previous Action Plan because there are still many activities that were not implemented and which need to be reflected in the new Action Plan to be developed.

Recall that Open Government Partnership (OGP) is a multilateral initiative that aims to secure concrete commitments from national and sub-national governments to promote open government, empower citizens, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to strengthen governance.

Kano State is one of the States in Nigeria that signed at the sub-national level with an Executive Order signed by the His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kano State Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
