APCON – Modified Executive Professional Examination (MEPE) 2021 Seminar is ongoing at Babale Suites in Nassarawa GRA where I, as a Registered Practitioner of Advertising (rpa) was the first to deliver a lecture on Principles and Practice of Advertising to some company Executies and senior Management staff.

After completing my presentation, lunch break was observed and to my greatest surprise the Kannywood movie star Ali Nuhu was among the persons undergoing the training.

Heard so much about his being rude and arrogant from many sources, but he was entirely a different cup of tea wAllaahi.

When joining the queue for food being served he greeted us first, contrary to reports of his being haughty. Collected his meal and water, sat and ate then returned the used plates, cutlery and empty bottled water himself to clear his table. He also obliged participants who requested to snap pictures with him.

After our meal, we, I and my colleague Goni Mohammed got set to leave and met him at the hotel’s reception hall surrounded by fans. He excused himself and deliberately walked over to us, humbly greeted Goni again and then respectfully said to me “Yalla6ai assalam alaikum barka da rana.”

I responded back with a warm smile “Wa alaikassalaam Ya gari?” To which he answered again with all humility. It was our first ever one on one meeting, that close and wAllaahi he was totally unlike anything they have been saying about him. Poor guy… Gaskiya haters ba kyau.

Anyway, thereafter we got into photo shots (hereby shared) with Goni shooting away. Shoulder to shoulder he is as tall as I am and I even said “Ban san kana da tsawo haka ba.” “Au ca kake tsawona a fim ne kawai?” He rhetorically asked back as we both briefly laughed heartily. We then posed some more for pix and documented our chanced meeting.

Others too joined in on the opportunity with us, with him or with me. Next, I decided to go for a selfie shot. Someone offered to snap us, but was stopped by Goni saying “A’a bar shi ya d’auka da hannunsa na selfie. Ka san ya iya selfie”

So, I showed him what Goni was telling everyone and snapped a few shots with my phone. Ali Nuhu was surprised with the clearity and quality of the shots and softly exclaimed to my hearing “Kai kamerar wannan wayar tana da kyau.” “Haka mutane suke cewa.” I replied him.

We soon separated, he back into the seminar hall, I out to the carpark. There again many of the persons attending the professional human development event requested we snap pictures with them and I obliged. When we were done, I saw a stray copy of my latest published book #30 Questions in 30 Days in my car, endorsed it and gave it to the Kannywood star.

Interesting how Allaah SWT facilitate things. I never thought we will meet with Ali Nuhu today or he will be such a nice personality, but I’m happy for him practically debunking such bad PR some people are attributing to him. It’s rather unfortunate for people to do that.
