Federal Government says effort to improve the system of education among the nomadic group is underway.
Executive Secretary Nomadic Education Commission, Professor Bashir H. Usman made the assertion during an assessment tour of nomadic schools in Jigawa state.

The tour was meant to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic across the country, which necessitate the closing down of all nomadic schools in Jigawa state.
Usman emphasised that implementing Nomadic Education Programme is a most, considering the internecine conflicts between pastoralists and the farmers groups, as well as ongoing rural banditry that made access to rural communities and such Nomadic Schools very difficult by the instructors.
“From the establishment of this Commission in 1989, we recorded many successes with regards to Education and morality, and to my understanding if to say that somebody is educated enough you’ll be getting all this type of problems, challenges and criminality going on and persisting everyday.
“Because it’s through education that you can be able to highlight anything of importance to somebody about national security and community policing,” Usman said.
He commended Jigawa state governor, Mohammad Abubakar Badaru for being the first to established such schools, urging other governors to emulate.
“Currently there’re 418 Nomadic schools in Jigawa, with over 84 thousand enrollment figures from male and female groups, and a total number of over 500 teachers.
“This is a very good development, and commendable, and no doubt it’s one of the secret behind peaceful living of rural communities,” Usman said.
Executive Secretary, then revealed that the commission has acquired a radio broadcasting license to establish a radio station for the education of nomadic population.
He said the National Broadcasting Commission has already granted the license to the commission.
“The AM broadcast license to set up the Radio Station title ‘Zamanu Radio International’, which is already being equipped in phases due to paucity of funds it’s take-off in no distant future.
“We’re very sure when completed, the Radio Station will broadcast in both English, Fulfulde, Hausa and Pidgin, considering the major languages the station would be effectively serve for the purposes of mobilization and sensitization of Nomadic Group, and the general public on peace building, inter ethic harmony, and national integration,” E.S Nomadic Education Commission.
Prof. Usman then urges to the Jigawa State Government, to support the good intention of his Commission in actualizing their goals.
