The Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has debunked a video circulating social media of a man seen lying on the street holding a bottle of beer in his hand, wearing the Agency’s uniform.

This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen by the Public Relations Officer of the Agency, Alhaji Nabilusi Abubakar on Friday in Kano

According to the statement, “the man was apprehended and investigation confirmed that he is not working with KAROTA.

“The Agency expressed its displeasure over the alleged abuse of their uniform.

“We have handed him over to the Kano State Hisbah board for legal action and prosecution”,he said.

Abubakar thanked the general public for their support and successful arrest of the culprit.

However, in another video, the drunk man was sighted during an interrogation by Personnel of the Kano Hisbah Command saying he is a KAROTA Marshall.

The culprit identified as Muntari Isah from Gawuna said “I work with the KAROTA agency, and I am KAROTA Marshall. On Sallah day after the Ramadan I drank beer which I was caught on camera by some residents in Sabon Gari.

“I made a mistake indulging in such an act with my KAROTA uniform. I saw the disposed uniform on the ground which I washed and wore because as a Marshall we don’t wear uniform.

“I have repented and promised not to engage in such an act again because I have a family to take care of”. He said.

However, it was recorded in the video that the interviewer justified that the culprit was handed over to HISBAH by the KAROTA agency.
