The Kano state police command has arrested a man impersonating to be a Nigerian soldier robbing and extorting individuals in the state of their money and valuables.
The police public relations officer of the force, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa revealed this through a press statement made available to journalists.
He said the alleged impersonator identified as Chidera Aruna was first arrested by personnel of 455 Base Services Group of the Nigerian Air Force Kano in Sabon Gari Quarters of the state and subsequently handed over to the Kano state police command.

The suspect was apprehended with 3 phones, as he confessed to committing the crime, stating that he was neither a military officer nor a security personnel.
“On investigation, Chidera was found in possession of two iPhones Mobile Handsets and an Infinix Mobile Phone suspected to be robbed. He also confessed to the crime and confessed that he is neither a military officer nor any security personnel. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.” Kiyawa said.
