The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied raiding Justice Ita Mbaba’s residence in Kano State.

EFCC Head of Media, Wilson Uwujaren, issued a clarification on Wednesday.

The spokesman’s reaction followed social media posts that alleged EFCC operatives “invaded” Mbaba’s home.

The home of the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Kano Division, is on Sheik Yusuf Adam Game street, off Race Cross Road in G.R.A.

Uwujaren confirmed that anti-graft officers visited the location “on a Property Verification Exercise”.

The official said the visit was due to a subsisting matter involving the owner of the property.

“There is no truth, linkage or nexus with any investigation of the Honourable Justice of the Court of Appeal.

“Available facts showed that Justice Mbaba is not the owner of the property and could, therefore, not be the subject of any investigation.”

The statement added that the EFCC holds the judiciary in optimum respect and will not embarrass any officer of the court.
