Comrade Salihu Tanko Yakasai, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) governorship candidate for Kano State, promised on Saturday that if elected in the upcoming general elections, the party will wipe away the tears of the masses and end the sufferings of the people.
Yakasai spoke at the Sani Abacha Youth Centre during the launch of his gubernatorial campaign and the presentation of flags to abdicates vying for various positions on the party’s platform.
He recalled that the PRP, as Nigeria’s oldest party, left a lasting legacy in Kano over 40 years ago that residents are still enjoying today.
If elected governor of Kano State, Yakasai promised to restore the late Malam Aminu Kano’s leadership qualities and rebuild Kano.
According to him, the PRP is still a moral and ethical party with a mandate to champion the cause of the common man.
Yakasai, who was flanked by his running mate, Malam Shazali Mohammed Gargai Bebeji, expressed regret for the state’s current hardship caused by the new Naira notes controversy and fuel scarcity, promising that the PRP will reverse the status quo and put smiles on people’s faces.
“We are acutely aware of the hardships that the masses are currently experiencing. Please vote for us. When we triumph, we will alter the status quo. “We will make sure you smile again,” Yakasai assured the cheering crowd.
He urged Kano residents to vote for all PRP candidates, describing them as leaders who care about the people’s well-being.
Malam Mohammed Sule, the party’s National Organizing Secretary, presented the gubernatorial flag to Yakasai and his running mate.
Other candidates vying for different positions were also given flags.
Hundreds of party chieftains attended the event, including the party’s Campaign Director-General, Dahiru Nabilisi Bako, Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Alhaji Muhktar Othman, National Vice Chairman (North-West), Abba Sule Namatazu, National Vice Chairman (North-Central), Honourable Haruna Buhari, and Alhaji Goni Lain Ishaq Rabi’u, Authority reports.
