So far a rough total of at least two hundred Muslim residents conveniently break their Ramadan fasting at Shiek Giro Argungu mosque in Argungu local government area of Kebbi State, under the programme sponsored by the Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu.
Â
The programme is under the supervision of the Director of Da’awa, Abubakar Lanne Augie.
Â
According to Augie, “the food items include cooked jollof rice, pap, cold sachet water, and bean cakes.
Â
“The beneficiaries are people from indigent background who usually throng the mosque for the daily Ramadan feeding.” He said.
Â
He added that the programme will continue till the end of Ramadan with numbers increasing on daily basis.
Â
One of the beneficiaries who don’t want his name to be mentioned said it was a relief to them considering how hard things are.
Â
He added that most of them are menial jobbers and had since chosen the mosque as a convenient place to break their fast.
Â
He thanked the supervisor Lanne for his impartial distribution of the items, and also thanked Governor Bagudu for organizing such “a blessed gathering.”
Â
Lanne urged them to use the holy month of Ramadan to pray for peace in Kebbi and the country at large as the nation grapples with serious security challenges, particularly in northern Nigeria.
