The immediate past governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has threatened to confront his predecessor in office and the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, if they meet at the presidential villa, Abuja.

Ganduje, who was also Kwankwaso’s deputy when he was governor, issued the threat after meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Friday and informing him of the alleged damage done by the government led by Kwankwaso’s party only two weeks after taking office.

“I know he (Kwankwaso) is in the building but we have not met. Probably if we met, maybe I could have slapped him,” Ganduje said while addressing State House correspondents.

The former governor noted that the government demolished four properties built under a public-private partnership arrangement less than 72 hours after Governor Abba Yusuf’s inauguration on May 29.

Ganduje, who expressed disappointment over the current administration’s ill-advised moves that could stymie proper development in the state, said he had also briefed the Inspector General of Police.

While declining to reveal the President’s response, Ganduje revealed that inside information has it that even the governor is unhappy with the level of destruction, which has enraged many residents because some of their members have been affected.

Meanwhile, Kwankwaso, who succeeded Ganduje as governor of the state, is still meeting with President Tinubu, NewsPointNigeria reports.

The President has in the last one week met no less than twice with the immediate past Governor of Kano state.
