Kano Govt lauds committee for evacuating 600 trips of waste in 7 days

Kano state governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed delight for the smooth evacuation of waste and other garbages inherited from the immediate past administration within Kano metropolis by the Joint taskforce committee on refuse evacuation (Operation Nazafa) of more than 600 trips within seven days of its operation.

The Governor who made the commendation while receiving the last week report of the exercise from the members of this committee led by the chairman of the committee Ambassador, Ahmadu Zago who visited him in his office at the weekend.

The governor who lauded members of the committee for a job well done charged them to consolidate and continue to mop up the remaining waste in all nooks and crannies within Kano metropolis.

He pointed out that, the present administration is committed to ensuring the safety its teeming citizens, and this could only be achieved through the provision of clean and tidy environment.

Engr. Abba Kabir therefore enjoined people in the state as a matter of collective responsibility to complement government efforts by avoiding indiscriminate dumping of waste especially on water ways and major roads.

He warned that, government would not tolerate such kind of unguided behaviors.

The governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi also commended some private companies and construction firms who supported the government in this process both foreign and indigenous companies.

The governor then presented the notification of appointment to the members of this committee and enjoined them not to relent until Kano is Free from all forms of refuse.

The committee has Alh Ahmadu zago as Chairman, Permanent Secretary Ministry of works Engr. Mansur Yakubu as member, Permanent Secretary Special duties, Alh Abbas Sunusi member while Engr. Abdulrazak Haruna Director engineering member, Sha’aya’u A. Jibrin Director operation member.

Others are, Bashir Nasidi chairman central working committee on self help groups member, Ismail Garba Gwammaja Director public enlightenment member, Hamisu muhd Umar as co-secretary and Aliyu Yakubu Garo permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment as Secretary of the Committee.

The chairman of the committee, Danzago restated members readiness to work assiduously for the betterment of Kano and people of the State.
