According to reports, President Bola Tinubu is nearly finished compiling his ministerial list.
According to Naija News, the President was secretive about the list’s selection, as he held close consultations with his special advisors.
While the long-awaited list is nearly complete, this platform reported last week that the lobby for ministerial appointments intensified as party sources revealed that some former governors and lawmakers who lost in the 2023 general election were hovering at the All Progressives Congress (APC) national office in Abuja.
It was also learned that most state chapters of the ruling party had completed their nominations for ministerial appointments, which would be forwarded to the President.
A source close to the Presidency, however, told The Punch that the President kept a core group of ministers to himself.
“I learned that Tinubu’s ministerial list is almost complete,” the source said. He kept a small group of ministers to himself, heavily influenced by the SA kitchen cabinet.
“The politicians are in a state of ‘Bolekaja’ over the rest.” It’s now a slugfest.”
Meanwhile, another source confirmed Tinubu’s flight from London today ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
This platform reported yesterday that the President will arrive in Lagos today ahead of the Sallah celebrations, citing a source close to the presidency.
According to the source, Tinubu will return to his private Ikoyi home in Lagos later Tuesday to celebrate his first Sallah as President.
On Wednesday, he is expected to join other dignitaries for Eid prayers at the Obalende Muslim Prayer Ground, which is located at Dodan Barracks, the former seat of the Nigerian government.
Even though the festivities end on Thursday, the President is not expected to return to Abuja until Sunday or Monday, according to the source.
“I am certain that he will return to Lagos tomorrow (Tuesday), not Abuja,” the source said. He will observe Sallah there.”
