Girl child rights activist, Malala Yousafzai, met with Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, continuing her advocacy for girl-child education.
With over 120 million female children still deprived of education, Malala emphasized the critical importance of addressing this issue.
In a conversation with State House Correspondents following the meeting, Malala shared her mission and highlighted the significance of girls’ education in Nigeria.
She underscored that educating girls would shape the future of the country.
Expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to meet girls and education activists in Abuja and Borno State, Malala praised their efforts in driving positive change.
“I’m here to speak as well and share my thoughts with the communities, and also lucky that I was able to meet girls in Abuja.
I was also able to go to Borno State and meet incredible girls, visit their schools, and also meet the education activists,” said Malala.
During the meeting, she called upon all levels of government in Nigeria to prioritize sending girls to school and ensure equal educational opportunities for all children.
Malala passionately advocated for free and quality education for every child, urging a comprehensive financial commitment to bridge the education gap.
Malala’s meeting with Vice President Shettima highlighted the government’s support for her cause and emphasized the need for collaborative efforts.
