A Kano state high court has granted a N500,000 bail to controversial Tiktok personality Murja Kunya.
Daily News 24 reports that the court presided over by Justice Nasiru Saminu barred Murja from using her social media accounts until the case was determined.
The defendent was further asked to bring to reliable sureties that include a close relative and another individual with landed property in Kano Municipal.
Ms Kunya, who was arrested and charged to court by the Kano State Hisbah Board for allegedly promoting immorality, sharing explicit content on social media and promoting prostitution among other charges had been held in custody of the Kano State Hospital Management Board.

The Tiktoker was held following an order by a Kano Sharia Court, which directed her to under a mental evaluation at a Kano psychiatric hospital.
In his ruling on Monday, Justice Saminu emphasized the need for Murja’s release, pointing out that the court would be observing the Easter break while she had been in custody since February 20.
Furthermore, the court registry also ordered verification of the sureties’ property.
However, the court warned that any violation of the restriction would compel the Kano Commissioner of Police to arrest and bring back the Tik Toker to the court,” the judge ordered.
The judge also ordered that “the defendants’ counsel, the Attorney General, representatives from the Hisbah Board, and the Commissioner of Police must be in attendance to address amendments to the Kano State Hisbah Board Amended Law for proper adjudication.”
Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned till May 16, 2024, for further proceedings.
However, it should be recalled that the development followed Murja’s arrest by the Hisbah Board after it raised concerns over her conduct and postings on Twitter, alleging immorality.
