Sen. Rufa’i Hanga (NNPP-Kano)  said on Thursday in Kano that he has paid N45 million as registration fees for 200 indigent students of Bayero University, Kano (BUK).

Hanga told newsmen the gesture demonstrated his commitment to supporting education in Kano State, adding that had also awarded scholarships to no fewer than 200 students from the area at Kano State Polytechnic.

The Senator, who represents Kano Central, also told newsmen that he distributed JAMB scratch cards to 1,135 students free of charge and handed out 10,000 books and other learning materials to primary schools pupils.

These initiatives indicate Hanga’s dedication to empowering students and promoting education in his constituency

“I have also empowered 1,116 women across the 15 Local Government Areas of Kano Central with a capital of N50,000.

That was to enable them start small businesses which will enhance their economic status.

“This is in addition to free medical outreach for treatment of people for various diseases which I sponsored across the 15 Local Government Areas and 172 wards.

“I also repaired boreholes to put address water scarcity in my constituency’’,  he said.

Hanga also told newsmen that he built an Islamiyya school at Gobirawa ward in Dala Local Government Area and donated one plot of land to Maikalwa community of Kumbotso Local Government Area to expand their mosque.

He said he distributed bags of millet, maize, rice and other food items as palliatives to the people of the zone.

Hanga said he had plans to execute more projects, such as Women Training Centre and contrition of roads, installation of street lights.

“I also plan to construct the Layin Makabarta road in Kumbotso/Nasarawa Local Governments, supply instructional materials across the 15 Local Government Areas and 172 wards in Kano Central’’, among others.
