The Kano State Censorship Board, KSCB, has announced its resolve to sponsor films and drama content for deaf people in the state.

Daily News 24 reports that this was revealed in a statement by the spokesperson of the KSCB, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman.

Mr Suleiman said the Executive Secretary of the KSCB, Malam Abba El-Mustapha revealed this during a meeting with the Kano State Deaf Film/Drama Club in his office, recently.

The Executive Secretary “expressed his readiness to sponsor Deaf Films and drama aimed at providing job opportunities to the state teeming youths talkless of entertainment and educating people with special needs,” the statement said.

“While assuring to give his support and cooperation to the Association, El-mustapha promised to intermediate between the Association and Kannywood stakeholders including directors, producers and other members of the crew who could help to actualize positive results,” it added.

He further maintained that” if the association could be able to produce quality productions, their films would be watched and streamed everywhere nation wide.”

Mr El-Mustapha also “advised the association to register with board in order to benefit directly from the government programs and empowerment.”

Speaking earlier during the meeting the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the association Rabiu Aliyu Adam thanked the ES for his “kind reception”.

Mr Adam also pleaded with the KSCB boss “to continue leaving his door open for further support, consultation and collaboration.”
