The ongoing Kano Emirate Crisis reached its 10th day today, with developments being closely monitored by the public.

A Federal High Court session presided over by Justice Abdullahi Liman was scheduled to address the dispute surrounding the emirate tussle. However, proceedings were affected by the ongoing Labour Union strike.

The court had previously issued an interim injunction preventing law enforcement agencies, including the Inspector General of Police, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Services (DSS), from enforcing the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Law. This law, passed by the Kano State House of Assembly and signed by Governor Abba Yusuf, facilitated the reappointment of the 16th Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Daily News 24 reports that Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) officials were actively ensuring compliance with the strike in various parts of the city. At the GTBank Zaria Road Branch, customers were observed stranded as officials enforced strike compliance measures.

Furthermore, the gates of the Audu Bako Secretariat were secured with leaves attached, symbolizing the commencement of the labour strike.

Despite some vehicular movement across the state, labour leaders have expressed determination to intensify their efforts to halt such activities as the strike enters its second day of compliance.
