Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu, the mother of famous Hausa singer Dauda Adamu, popularly known as Rarara, has been released by bandits after spending 20 days in captivity.

According to a source close to the family, the elderly woman was freed and immediately taken to a hospital in Abuja, where she is currently receiving medical attention. Her health, already compromised by high blood pressure at the time of her abduction, deteriorated further during her ordeal.

The abduction occurred approximately three weeks ago when armed men broke into Kahutu village in Danja local government area of Katsina State. The bandits initially demanded a ransom of N1 billion for her release.

The news of her release sparked jubilation in Kahutu, the singer’s hometown. Residents expressed their relief and joy over her safe return.

“I am so happy today that Mama has finally regained her freedom. I am happy our mother has returned to us,” said Habib Isyaka, a resident of Kahutu. “Though I haven’t seen her yet, you cannot imagine my feelings. Honestly, today I am happy.”

Another resident, Ibrahim Bello Na Kahutu, shared his sentiments, saying, “I cannot express my feelings today. I am praying for her quick recovery because I learnt she is seriously ill. I want to use this opportunity to congratulate my brother Rarara over the release of Mama. We, the people of Kahutu village, are happy with this development.”

How Rarara’s Mother was abducted by gunmen in early morning raid

Hajiya Halima Adamu, the mother of the renowned Hausa singer Dauda Adamu, popularly known as Rarara, was taken from her residence in Kahutu village, Danja local government area of Katsina State.

A source in Kahutu village detailed the incident, explaining that the bandits struck around 1 am on Friday. “The bandits came on foot and silently because they did not fire a single shot during the operation that lasted for just a few minutes,” the source revealed. “The woman did not resist when the bandits requested her to go along with them.”

Despite encountering other individuals in the house, the assailants specifically targeted Rarara’s mother, leaving the others behind.

The source emphasized the community’s helplessness during the ordeal “No attempt to confront the bandits while leaving the house because they were armed with guns.”

It appears the bandits employed a strategic approach by keeping their motorcycles at a distance and trekking to the village. This tactic is believed to have helped them avoid early detection and facilitated their escape. “They probably kept their motorcycles far away and then trekked to the village,” the source speculated.

The abduction of Hajiya Halima Adamu left the Kahutu community in distress. She is a well-respected figure in the village, and her son, Rarara, is known for his generosity and contributions to local development.

Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu’s kidnapping added to the growing list of abductions in Nigeria, a country grappling with widespread insecurity. Her release brings a moment of relief and hope to her family and community, highlighting the persistent challenges posed by banditry and kidnappings in the region.
