The Federal Government has intervened in the ongoing dispute between Aliko Dangote, Africaโ€™s richest man, and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

Dangote has encountered challenges with the government concerning his refinery project in Lagos. He previously highlighted obstacles from a group preventing his crude imports and hindering product acquisition, thereby impeding operations.

On Monday, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), orchestrated a high-level meeting with key stakeholders to address the issues surrounding the Dangote Refinery.

According to a statement from the Ministerโ€™s Special Adviser Media and Communication, Nneamaka Okafor, the meeting involved Aliko Dangote, Chairman and CEO of Dangote Group; Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive of NMDPRA; Gbenga Komolafe, CEO of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC); and Mele Kyari, Group CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC).

The statement underscored the minister’s call for cooperation and synergy among all stakeholders to ensure the success and optimal performance of the Oil and Gas sector, crucial for Nigeriaโ€™s economic growth and energy security.
