Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, the Chief of Staff to the Kano State government, has dismissed the accusations made against him by the State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, concerning the alleged diversion of palliatives.
Sagagi described these allegations as baseless, misleading, and driven by political motives.
In a statement released on Wednesday in Kano, Sagagi condemned the opposition’s tactics as a “desperate attempt to tarnish his image in the eyes of right-thinking Nigerians.” He argued that the accusations were a calculated effort to undermine the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) government’s initiatives aimed at supporting the people of Kano State.

Sagagi emphasized that the APC’s claims lacked any foundation, as there is no evidence to support the accusations of palliative diversion and rebranding. “Let it be on record that my office has never been involved in palliatives distribution, and no one has ever allocated the palliatives to me for onward distribution to state, local governments, or ward levels,” he stated.
The chief of staff also highlighted the NNPP government’s transparency in distributing palliatives, noting that there are clear records of beneficiaries and distribution channels. He insisted that the APC’s allegations are politically motivated and intended to distract the public from the party’s shortcomings during their eight years in power.
“The APC’s claims of palliative diversion are also contradictory, as they have previously praised the NNPP government’s efforts in supporting the people of Kano State,” Sagagi added.
