According to a statement released by the FRSC, the accident involved a truck and a tricycle, with twelve people affected. Tragically, nine people lost their lives, while three others were injured and immediately taken to Kura General Hospital for medical treatment.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the crash was caused by wrongful overtaking, leading to the driver’s loss of control.

The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Kano, Corps Commander Ahmed Mohammed, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. He emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules and urged drivers to reduce their speed when nearing major towns on highways.

โ€œDrivers must maintain safe speeds and avoid reckless overtaking to prevent such tragedies. We also advise against loitering and hawking along highways,โ€ Mohammed stated.

The FRSC reiterated its commitment to ensuring road safety and promised to intensify public awareness and enforcement campaigns to address the increasing number of road accidents.
