As the crisis within the Kano New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) escalates with two House of Representatives members, Ali Madakin Gini and Alhassan Rirum, parting ways with the Kwankwasiyya Movement, All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso has urged President Bola Tinubu to steer clear of the internal dispute.

The caution followed a recent meeting between President Tinubu and Kwankwasiyya leader Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, reportedly initiated by Kwankwaso himself.

Reacting to the meeting, Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, in a statement on Monday in Kano, raised concerns about the purpose behind Kwankwaso’s visit, saying, “We are aware of a meeting between President Tinubu and Kwankwaso, today early in the morning, and even pictures of Kwankwaso were not allowed to be taken at the Presidency, we are suspicious of the meeting.”

He suggested that Kwankwaso might be feeling unsettled as prominent allies distance themselves from him. “Kwankwaso must have rushed to President Tinubu in jittery of the fact that his top allies are gradually jilting him. The President should know that Kwankwaso should not be trusted,” he stated.

Highlighting the political weight of those leaving the movement, Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso said, “The three giants, SSG Bichi, Rirum, and Madakin Gini plus Senator Kawu Sumaila were the ones who in 2023 ensured the victory of the NNPP/Abba Kabir Yusuf government, and today they are leaving. That is why Kwankwaso is highly afraid of their actions.”

The former commissioner for rural development further commented on Kwankwaso’s motivations, saying, “Kwankwaso knew he is losing ground; that is why he doesn’t mind going to the President shamelessly. That is why we are advising our beloved President Tinubu to be cautious of whatever he will tell him.”

Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso concluded by emphasizing the APC’s stance on the matter, remarking, “The crisis in Kwankwasiyya today in Kano is a fight to the finish. We in APC should congratulate ourselves, not pity them, because it is a clear victory for us in the 2027 general elections.”
