Davido and Chioma, “the Adelekes,” celebrated their long-awaited love story, which was immortalized in the popular Nigerian hit song “Assurance” in 2018.

Their traditional wedding took place at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island on June 25, 2024. It was an occasion that brought the country to a standstill, with notable personalities including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and past and present governors in attendance.

Despite the current economic hardship affecting many Nigerians, some took a moment and spent their limited funds on data just to catch glimpses of every moment through social media platforms and blogs. Although invitations were restricted by a steep cost (₦10,000,000), reduced to ₦5,000,000, it’s hard to imagine this being a barrier for superstar musicians like Burna Boy, WizKid, Rema, Tiwa Savage, Tems, Eniola, Asake, and others who did not attend (forgive any errors if some were present).

This is a “Celebration of Life”! Any ego battles, online or offline, among these notable personalities should have been set aside for this moment. Considering their busy musical tours, studio hours, and schedules, they should have joined in to celebrate with “CHIVIDO 24.” While there’s a saying that “an uninvited guest at a social occasion should be prepared to pay for any drinks or glassware they may accidentally damage,” but wait a minute, WizKid, Burna Boy, Rema, Tiwa Savage, and others are not just anybody. They have earned public relevance both locally and internationally and have the liberty to grace any event with their presence.

These luminaries of the Nigerian music industry, who have brought pride internationally, could have surprised Davido as a “show of love not beef”, as speculated online. As fellow artists in the music business and as Nigerians, they could have set an example of unity and ” one love” by joining in this celebration. They could have put aside any perceived beef to win more fans, showcasing unity despite their differing personalities and music styles.

In my honest opinion, I doubt Davido wouldn’t have appreciated the gestures from WizKid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Rema, Eniola Badmus, Asake, Tems, Ayra Star, and others if they surprised him at his traditional wedding. It’s unlikely anyone would have barred their entry into the venue, unless they had a prior commitment to perform at a show in Nigeria or overseas.

As fans, we still cherish them and their stories, value their music, and appreciate their charitable gestures towards the less privileged, orphans, and orphanages both in Nigeria and abroad. To those detractors, known as the “baby mama’s clubs,” now is not the time to seek attention or advertise your stale stock in trade. Let’s recognize that Davido has moved on, with his new private jet waiting. There’s no more baby mama drama in his life because he now has assurance (Chioma Adeleke). If anyone doubts it, then i see you loose in court.
