The Centre for Information Technology and Development CITAD has organized a two-year programme for girls studying at government schools.
Daily News 24 reports that the programme was introduced to enable young students to learn necessary information and communication technology (ICT) skills.
The training programme which took place at Government Girls Secondary school Janbulo also included school teachers.

Zainab Aminu, a gender officer at CITAD, said:
“The programme is a two-year programme by which by the end of the programme the teachers of the schools will be able to continue with the programme but for the two-year programme CITAD is going to be anchoring all the programme.”
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to Daily News 24 expressed joy at the Development.
“Am so excited to be part of this programme”, Maimuna Tijjani said.
The organizers are optimistic that both students and their Teachers will sooner or later excel in the information and communication technology sector.
