Nigerian singer Oyindamola Emmanuel Johnson-Hunga, better known as Dammy Krane, has been released from police custody after spending nearly a week at the Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja.

Dammy Krane was arrested on August 22 following allegations related to cybercrime. The arrest came after Krane accused fellow musician David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, of orchestrating his detention. Krane claimed Davido had paid the police to falsely detain him over issues related to Flutterwave and cryptocurrency scams.

In a statement made during his detention, Krane warned, โ€œDavido should be held accountable if anything happens to me.โ€ However, he has since retracted his accusations.

In a video posted by social media activist VeryDarkMan, Krane expressed gratitude and apologized to Davido. โ€œI wanna say a big thank you to my brother. I know there are a lot of words that ought not to be said. I know. I want to apologise for this Tagbo death allegation. Make una still remember David is my brother. And we are going to find a major ground to resolve everything,โ€ Krane said, referencing a past dispute involving their mutual friend Tagbo Umeike.

Krane also thanked the police commissioner in Abuja and VeryDarkMan for their support.

FCID spokesperson Funmilayo Eguaoje confirmed Kraneโ€™s release but did not provide details on the charges, noting that he had been interrogated by the cybercrime unit.

The feud between Krane and Davido has been ongoing for months, with Krane accusing Davido of owing him money and sabotaging his record deal. Davido has denied these claims and labeled Krane as โ€œungrateful,โ€ also threatening legal action for defamation.

Krane has announced the release of a new project, โ€˜King of Afrobeats,โ€™ scheduled for September 6. In his video message, he urged fans to focus on positive energy and music, stating, โ€œIt is still WorldStar movement. Let us spread more music.โ€
