Federation of Muslim women association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) Kaduna State chapter has revealed it is setting up a marriage counselling centre for people planning to get married.

The State Amira of FOMWAN, Pharmacist Aisha Isyaku Tukur, disclosed this during a marriage counselling for parents and couples held in Kaduna.

Disturbed by the alarming rate of divorce among couples in Nigeria, the group had blamed it on the lack of understanding and forgiveness witnessed in the society.

According to her, marriage is an Ibadah (devotion), and people should see it as such, saying many people who go into marriage do not understand what it is all about.

“Many young couples today marry without knowing what marriage is all about. They think it is about posting flamboyant marriage proposals, wedding pictures and all sorts of social media. Those are an outward show of love, not from the heart”.

“Just three months into the marriage, they start having a crisis”.

Pharmacist Tukur revealed that the centre would be located at the FOMWAN model School Angwan Sarki, Kaduna North Local Government area.

Speaking earlier, the guest speaker, permanent secretary Kaduna peace commission, Khadija Hawaja Gambo, said the land’s corruption is also affecting the family setting.

According to her, when parents give food that is gotten through dubious means to their children, the food, rather than nourishing them, inculcate in them some bad character that is seen today.

As Muslims, we should stop feeding our children with Haram, rather encourage them to live according to Allah’s dictate.
