The Founder Kaduna international film festival Audu Israel Kashim, fourth edition of the Kaduna International Film Festival, has called for the preservation of Nigeria’s Cultural Heritage, saying It encourages local communities to take responsibility and participate in the development, conservation of their heritage.

He asserted during a press conference on the forthcoming fourth edition of the Kaduna International Film Festival held in Kaduna.

Mr Kashim, who defined Cultural Heritage as the legacy of tangible and intangible heritage assets of a group or society that is inherited from the past generation, said it has the potential to re-energize neglected sectors of the heritage and provide opportunities for people to review, re-engage and interpret their heritage.

According to him, Cultural Heritage also helps generate a greater sense of pride and belonging through increased participation and interactions in the local area.

Speaking on the Kaduna international film festival, he expressed dismay that not everyone, especially in the north, seems to understand the concept of films or have attended a film festival before because of a lack of such event in northern Nigeria.

Kashim explained that film, also called a movie, motion picture, or moving picture is a visual art used to simulate experiences that communicate ideas, stories, perceptions, feelings, beauty, or atmosphere through moving images. These images are generally accompanied by sound, and more rarely, other sensory stimulations.

The 4th Kaduna international film festival is scheduled from 24th to 28th August 2021 with activities like masterclasses, film screenings, exhibitions, awards, panel discussions, and tourism. You are all welcome because we see you as great AMBASSADORS,”. he said.
