But, did Senator Barau Jibrin meets with Ganduje’s son?
Barau denies meeting Abdulaziz
The Senator representing Kano North, Barau I. Jibrin, when contacted by journalists described reports on his meeting with Abdulaziz Ganduje, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s son as a piece of fake news.
The reports say Governor Abdullahi Ganduje sent his son to meet Barau Jibrin to re-contest for the Senate in 2023, rather than the governorship seat.
Barau Jibrin is a member of the Shekarau-led faction of the All Progressive Congress in Kano.
The faction is battling with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s group over the control of the party structure in the state, a situation that resulted in parallel congresses and litigations.
When contacted on Monday, over the allegations, Senator Barau Jibrin’s media aide, Shittu Madaki Kunchi, refuted the reports, noting that the picture was taken in late 2020.
“The story is not true as that picture was during the visit of Abdulaziz Ganduje to Senator Barau’s office at the National Assembly, late 2020,” the media aide said.
Shittu Madaki Kunchi said Barau Jibrin, who is the Senate Committee Chairman on Appropriation, was not in Kano over the weekend as claimed.
