A group of stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North Central region has sent a letter to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), insisting on earlier demands for the resignation of the national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

In the letter titled “Vote of No Confidence and Request for the Removal of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as National Chairman of the APC,” signed by Mohammed Mahmud Saba and obtained by our correspondent, the Concerned North Central APC Stakeholders expressed their dissatisfaction with Ganduje’s leadership.

It was learnt that following the purported suspension of Ganduje, there has been renewed agitation among North Central members of the APC to “retain” the national chairman position.

The letter, which was also copied to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator George Akume, stated that the North Central region had passed a vote of no confidence in Ganduje and demanded his immediate resignation.

Mahmud Saba highlighted that Ganduje’s emergence as national chairman went against the APC constitution and betrayed the North Central, which was supposed to retain the position following Senator Abdullahi Adamu’s exit.

In a related development, another group of APC stakeholders from the region, under the auspices of the North Central APC Forum, have called on state chairmen of the party from the region to dissociate themselves from the recent vote of confidence passed on Ganduje by APC state chairmen.

The forum’s chairman, Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, stated that the endorsement was not in the interest of the North Central region and could weaken the party’s stronghold in the region, which played a significant role in the party’s success in the 2023 elections.

Zazzaga emphasized the region’s strong contribution to the APC and its victories in elections, noting that the region deserved the National Chairmanship position. He called on APC stakeholders and governors from the North Central to support their efforts in securing the position.
