Gunmen heavily loaded with weapons have reportedly kidnapped no fewer than Six pupils at the Local Government Education Authority Primary School, (LGEA), Alwaza, in Doma, the headquarters of Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

9news reports that an impeccable source in the community who didn’t want his name to be mentioned informed our correspondent that the incident occured at 7am in the morning when other pupils of the school were still arriving for the day’s activities.

His words, “The bad incident is very worrisome and confusing. It was just like a drama. We had never envisage this ugly seceniro in our community.

“The school children, about six of them were kidnapped by the heavily armed men and they took them to an unknown destination.”

“As residents of the community, we could not do anything to rescue them because the criminals were well loaded with weapons, but we have informed the police about the bad development and it is my wish that they will make efforts to rescue the kidnapped pupils on hurt,” he stated.

Confirming the unfortunate development to our correspondent in a telephone interview, the Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 4 Special Forces Command, Doma Barracks, Major Joseph Adekule Afolashade, said six children of Alwaza primary school in Doma were kidnapped by gunmen, adding that command has intensified effort by deploying its patrol team comprising of motorcycles patrol team and other patrol team to ensure that all the victims are rescued on hurt.

He explained that the information recieved by the 4 Special Forces Command, Doma was that, “Six children of LEA Alwaza primary school were kidnapped by gunmen while on their way to school on Friday this morning at abouto730hours.”

He said already the command have deployed its motorcycles patrol team who can have access to every nook and cranny of the general area, maintaining that men of the command are on the trail of the kidnappers to ensure the victims are being rescued on hurt.

According to him, “The incident happened on Friday this morning at about 0730hours when the pupils were on their way to school.”

According to him, the commander 4 Special Forces Command Doma, has directed the CO 123 of the command who are on the trail of the kidnappers. “Right now as I am talking to you both motorcycles patrol and all other patrol teams have been drafted to trail all the kidnappers and ensure the all the victims are rescued as we are going to do everything within their power to rescue them,” he decleared.

Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, has debunked claims that six pupils of the LGEA primary school, Alwaza, were kidnapped in the school premises.

He explained that those kidnapped by the gunmen were two boys, 7 and 8 years old, staying that they were on their way to school when the sad incident occured.

The PPRO, however, said as soon as the police received the information, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Maiyaki Baba, led officers of the command, vigilante groups and other security agencies to the scene of the attack.

He said, “The information I have is that two boys between age 7 and 8 were the ones taken away on their way to school at LEA primary school, Alwaza village.

“On receipt of the information at 7:10am today, a joint team led by the Commissioner of Police consisting of the Police, Military and Vigilante were drafted to the scene of the attack to rescue the kidnapped pupils and track down the criminals.

“We are still on the trail of the abductors and we promise to do everything within our powers to address the situation.”

While calling on residents of Alwaza community to go about their lawful businesses without any fear, the PPRO appealed to them to report any unusual faces seen in the area to the nearest police station.
