A suspected notorious thug has narrated to the police authorities in Kano state how he slaughtered his friend with a bread knife after a scuffle broke out between them.
The suspect, Abba Garba Ibrahim aka Abba Dan Kuda, 25, who was trailed and arrested by the police said he committed the crime unintentionally.
According to the Kano police command, Dan Kuda was one of dozens of notorious thugs that have been terrorizing residents in Dorayi area of Kano city recently.
Narrating how he committed the crime, Dan Kuda said he tried to defend himself from a potential knife attack from his friend Zahraddeen Ilyasu.
The suspect spoke in a video interview shared on the Facebook page of the Kano Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

“I had a quarrel with Zahraddeen and while the altercation was going on, he attempted to draw a knife but I drew it first and cut his throat.
“He then immediately fell down and died. But I didn’t know he had died until I was arrested by the police,” he said.
Dan Kuda said the deceased and others had attacked and injured him in the face, adding that he had regretted killing his friend.
“I had spent seven years doing drugs and thuggery. But I truly never intended to commit murder, which I’m now charged with,” he said.
The suspected added that before committing the crime, he had taken Exol–a drug used to treat cough, Parkinson’s disease and spasms.
“I took exol, Indian hemp and cigarette prior to committing the crime. But it was the exol that was responsible for my behaviour because it causes confusion and lack of awareness about someone’s actions”.
Dan Kuda also advised youths to desist from taking hard drugs, which he said are dangerous and end up destroying their lives.
“I have now seen the effect of hard drugs because it caused me to commit murder. There is no benefit in abusing hard drugs. It’s all delusion and waste of life,” he said.
In his remarks, SP Kiyawa said the state’s commissioner of police, CP Usaini Gumel had ordered that the suspect shpuld be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
SP Kiyawa added that Mr Dan Kuda would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded.
