No fewer than 49 suspects have been arrested by the Kano State police command over alleged criminal conspiracy, mischief and theft.

According to the police command, it recently received reports that certain hoodlums in their hundreds in numbers were grouping and planning to loot properties of buildings and structures at Triumph Plaza, Fagge Local Government Area of Kano state.

On receipt of the reports, CP Mohammed Gumel, the Kano Commissioner of Police directed the immediate deployments of teams of Operation Restore Peace to the scene, and the suspected looters were dispersed.

Forty-nine suspects were arrested and the looted properties recovered include; three Flash Doors, Flash Windows, four Air Conditioners, eight pieces of Polling Door Iron, and sixteen Heavy Duty Hammers, amongst others.

While discreet investigation is underway, the Commissioner of Police also advised parents and community leaders to talk to their wards and youths to desist from looting people’s properties as it is a clear case of mischief and theft which is punishable under the law.
