Grimes International College, Day and Boarding, Alagbado, Lagos has declared zero tolerance to bullying, saying any student caught in the act will be sanctioned.

Mrs Dorcas Olubodun, the Principal of the College, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos.

Olubodun said that the decision was to guard against any form of intimidation among students and to make learning environment free from physical and emotional frustration.

She spoke against the backdrop of unruly behaviour among schoolchildren which had become a source of concern to the stakeholders in the education sector in the state.

According to her, the school is passionate about the general well-being and safety of every student, both day and boarding.

”It is our prayer and wish that they turn out good and responsible, that is the reason we are giving our best in all ramifications.

”Any student who uses his or her strength or power to bully, frighten or hurt a weaker one in the school or outside the school will be expelled on the spot.

”This is part of our efforts to warn and sensitise students on the danger of neglecting their studies,” she said.

The principal said that the college management would not condole, cover up or pardon any student found bullying a fellow, irrespective of his/her parents status.

”We totally condemn bullying and there is no room for such act here in Grimes and it does not matter whose child is involved,” she added.

Olubodun, therefore, enjoined parents to live up to their responsibilities by ensuring proper training of their children.

She noted that they must be vigilant and watch out for funny behaviour traceable to bullying. (NAN)
