NAOWA distribute items to wounded soldiers at 44 Hospital Kaduna

Soldiers who have sustained Injuries at the war front defending their father land had been given words of hope in other to keep their spirit going, as “their efforts are recognized and appreciated.”

Giving the words of hope to the soldiers, is the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) 1Division, when they paid a visit to them at the 44 Army reference hospital Kaduna, as well distributed gift items to the wounded soldiers.

Chairperson of the NAOWA,1 Div, Mrs Maimunatu Ali-Keefi speaking to newsmen shortly after visiting the patients at their various wards charged the wounded soldiers to be strong.

Ali-Keefi, said “it is not easy to be at war and have families back at home, being sick can be tiring and frustrating”.

Hence, she encouraged them to find strength in their families and also take the love that their families are showing to them to heal

“We are here for them, i feel for them , am with them. Their sufferings and wounds are not in vain but it shows an act of braveness and resilience. We thank you for your sacrifices, strength, courage we are truly indebted that you put your lives at the war front for our country” she said.

Continuing, Mrs Ali-Keefi who also met with the the wives of slain Soldiers urged them not to blame themselves.

she urged the widows not to give up, assured that NAOWA is always with them. They should found solace in them.

She disclosed that, the wives of slain soldiers can acquire skills at Dalet Barracks which is affiliated to Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria.

“We have a vocational institute located at Dalet barracks which is also open to widows and their families, they can come and acquire vocational skills that will put money in their pockets which will also help them to support their families”.

While speaking, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of 44 Army reference hospital Kaduna, Colonel Augustine Omogbethai said that the wounded soldiers are seen as unsung heroes.

Omogbethai assured that 44 hospital is prepared to take care of the wounded soldiers and their staff, disclosing that no staff was lost during Covid-19 pandemic.

He also said that the hospital has employed 51 nurses to address nursing care.

Items distributed includes; Pillow, detergent, brooms, disposable nose masks, among others.
